The school season has started and along with the pencils, backpacks, and clothes a few pokes are added…for safety’s sake.
The immunization game is a long one. Similar to monopoly you need to buy property (or first round of shots) before you begin to build your immunization empire. When we are born, we receive a series of shots and continue to abide by a schedule of vaccinations throughout our growing years.
When I was a child, I received my share of vaccines. I never looked forward to them, but I played by the rules and took the pain. Now that I am an adult, an aunt and hopefully one day a parent, I want to know which vaccines are:
- required,
- when,
- and why
for children up to 6 years.
The following images, presented in mock-monopoly format, are for informational purposes only and were compiled based on information available on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s website, PubMed, and the National Health Institute.
